This makes it relatively easy to get a variety of foods when you are on a no carb diet. Some examples of foods that do not contain carbohydrates include: Meat. High in protein and vitamins, most meats do not contain any carbs. This includes beef, pork, veal, duck, goose, chicken and turkey. Fish.
Gluten-free and low carb are not the same thing, but low carbers tend to eat less gluten than their carb-eating friends. Gluten is a protein found in grains like wheat, barley and rye that often helps with the texture of the dough. Because low carbers avoid most grains, sometimes people think the two ideas are pretty much interchangeable.
Any food labeled gluten-free is guaranteed to contain no traces of wheat, barley, or related grains, though it could very well contain other carbs like white sugar or rice. As such, claiming that a gluten-free food is also a low carb food may be true in some cases, but it is in no way a universal rule.
Most regular cornbread recipes, including those made with the popular Jiffy box mix, contain gluten. In order to ensure that your recipe is gluten free you need to use both gluten free flour and cornmeal that is labeled and certified gluten free.
