Since this is a family staple, there was no avoiding it during gestational diabetes meal planning. As long as I portioned it out and limited how many tortilla chips I ate with it, I was totally fine. Portion out the mac ‘n cheese to one third a cup to make it a gestational diabetes meal.

Because blood sugars can fluctuate during different stages of pregnancy, you'll probably be advised to monitor your levels at home to maintain the correct dosage.
This is known as gestational diabetes and it puts you and your baby at a higher risk for complications. There are usually no symptoms so you'll be screened for the condition during pregnancy. Eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise can reduce your risk of developing gestational diabetes.
