If the generator starts under those conditions, you know it's a weak battery. BTW, just don't start your generator and run it for 1-2 minutes. Put load on it, at least a few hundred watts, and let it run for 10-15 minutes. It that doesn't work, then get back to the other suggestions like checking spark and checking for fuel.

Our generator is not starting. I know we have enough gas. I want to replace the plugs, but can't figure out how to get to the inside one. It's against a bulkhead in back and close to a bulkhead on top. I can get my fingers on it, and, possibly, a spark plug socket, but I can't figure a way to get there with a rachet. Is there a trick to this?

I found out why my Onan 7K gas generator wasn't running very good. There is a broken spark plug wire going to one of the spark plugs. Has anyone ever replaced spark plug wires? The one that is broken is the one on the left side of course, the one with the longest wire. I can't see where the other end of the plug wires go to.

Our recommendation is to use the ratchet only to make the spark plug loose and then remove it. We do rest of the threading/unscrewing by turning the socket manually. When removing, never change the angle of the socket as this way you will cause damage to your plug. Once it is out, remove the plug from the socket to make a room for the new one.
