Frequently Asked Questions

How do I Share my Family Tree on ancestry?

You have to log in to your Ancestry account, and click on the tab on the top where it says “TREES”. A menu should drop down, and just choose the tree that you want to share access to. From within the screen where you can see your tree, in the top left corner below the menu, you will see a box that says “YOUR NAME Family Tree”.

What can you do with a free ancestry account?

Fortunately, there are many things that we can do with our free accounts. It’s always free on Ancestry to build your family tree. In fact, you can build multiple trees without upgrading to a paid account. This is great to know, since lots of people find that they like to get an Ancestry subscription during times when they are actively researching.

How do I add a relative to my ancestry account?

Sign into the relative’s Ancestry account. Click on settings in the top right corner. At the bottom of this page, you will see a box titled DNA Ethnicity and Matches Access. Click Add a Person and enter your Ancestry email or username. Click “send invitation” and follow through to receive the invitation.

Does my ancestry subscription include my Family Tree?

Your Ancestry subscription has not only included your online family tree, but also all of the records that you found and attached to that tree. I did a little research along with Sunny Morton, Genealogy Gems Editor and our resident expert on the “ Genealogy Giants” websites” (Ancestry, FamilySearch, Findmypast and MyHeritage).
