A kolache is a rounded pastry that can be filled with different sweets, fruits or meats. Kolaches are largely known as an ideal choice of breakfast pastry but people also enjoy kolaches as a dessert depending on the flavor. In some cultures, kolaches are an alternative to other treats with afternoon tea or coffee.
The kolache originated in Eastern Europe, and dates as far back as the 1700's. The original product was a pastry filled with fruit. Kolache Factory makes its pastry dough using its time tested recipe.
Kolache preparation in bakery. A kolach (also spelled kolache, kolace or kolacky /kəˈlɑːtʃi, -tʃki/, from the Czech and Slovak plural koláče, sg. koláč) is a type of pastry that holds a portion of fruit or cheese, surrounded by a puffy cushion of supple dough.
A Kolache is a Czech breakfast pastry made from sweet bread and is eaten by hand like a doughnut or Danish. Traditional Kolaches are filled with fruit or cream cheese. Traditional Klobasniky (pronounced KLO-BAAS-NICKY) are made from the same sweet bread but filled with sausage and cheese.
