This skillet fried corn is a classic! One your family will love and super easy to make. The perfect side dish. Remove husks and silks from fresh corn, wash and cut corn off the cob. Scrape the cob to get out the juice. Melt butter in a large skillet, add fresh or frozen corn, bacon drippings and sugar.
Gather the ingredients. . In a heavy skillet, heat butter over medium-low heat until foamy. Add the fresh corn kernels; cook for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. The Spruce. Lower heat if necessary to keep the butter from burning. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning, and add about 1 teaspoon of sugar if desired.
Y’all. I just love fried corn. Like LOVE it. For those of you not too familiar with Southern fried corn, it’s not a big ol’ ear of corn deep fried – though I have seen that! I guess you’d liken it to something more like creamed corn. Though I’m not sure that’s even a good comparison.
Aretha bakes her chicken and dressing, another item with her new label, in a loaf pan, but we bet this traditional casserole would OK with her. It’s said that the reason Ms. Franklin is starting her food brand is to compete with Patti LaBelle, whose sweet potato pie has been wildly popular.
